The Meridians-Allowing Energy to Flow

In computer systems, electricity can be used to supply power, transmit information or do both at the same time. As an example you can use the USB port on your computer to recharge the battery of an mp3 device or download more music. Whether as information, power or both electricity causes change or creates the potential for change.

Qi (or Chi) is like electricity. It causes change to occur. Like electricity Qi can be used to transmit power or information or simply as a means of creating change.

Within our body Qi flows along channels called meridians. These meridians run along the surface of our body along our arms, neck, torso and legs. They also run within our body connecting our organs to each other as well as to our extremities.

These meridians are locatedmainly in the connective tissue of our body. By maintaining or improving the health and function of our connective tissue we can maintain or improve the ability of our meridians to transmit change or Qi.

Stretching the Meridians and Energizing Them

One possible mechanism for creating charge in the meridians is from stretching and relaxing the connective tissue of the body. It may be that the connective tissue of the body has a piezo electric quality which means that it generates charge when it undergoes a change, such as when being stretched or relaxed. Repeated stretching and relaxing of connective tissue, Meridian/may then be used to generate a relatively constant flow of change.

As an example, we might be stretching the front of the torso. In so doing we stretch theconnective tissue along the front of the belly and that which spans the front of the ribcage. As the front of the body is stretched and then released, a buzzing or tingling may result. The longer we stretch and/or the deeper we stretch, the bigger the "Charge" that we then develop and subsequently release. This "charge" may stay in the connective tissue where it was generatated and/or it may release to other parts of the body.

Another possible source of energy flow could be from the contraction and relaxation of muscle tissue. Since electrical activity occurs in muscle tissue when activated and relaxed, it may be that the connective tissue within muscle tissue acts as electrical wiring to carry "charge" away from the muscle when that muscle relaxes. Thus stretching and releasingmuscle, and activating and releasingmuscle tissue can both be used to "charge" or energize the body.

Transmitting Information via Tension

Continuing with the idea that the meridians are "embedded" in the connective tissue of our body, then one other way in which these "wires" can transmit change is through tension. This tension can be supplied by our muscles contracting. It can also be supplied by the weight of our bones being allowed to sink downwards with gravity. It can be relaxed by relaxing muscles tissue and supporting relevant "bony" elements (e.g. relax the meridians of your arms by supporting your elbows on a table.)

That tension can transmit change from one part of the body to another and it can also give us information about the state that our body is in. Wecan learn to listen to our body so that we can sense tension or its absence. We can then respond to that information.

As an example, if we sense that our shoulders are lifted and tense we can allow our shoulders to sink down and relax. That our shoulders do relaxation is the feedback we need to assure us that our body has done what we asked it to. We then control our body based on what we sense.

Creating Separation as Well as Connection

As well As connecting parts of the body to each other, connective tissue also allows creates separation between parts of the body. It allows muscle fibers or muscles that are right next to each other to slide relative to each other. This "lubricating" action also takes place between the organs and between organs and the bone structure thatsupports them.

For example the connective tissue that separates the lungs from the ribcage allows the lungs to move relative to the ribcage. By allowing the lungs to move freely connective tissue allows the lungs to function efficiently and ribcage together to draw air into the body and push it out.

Connective tissue change and transmits it allows change to happen in such a way that some parts of the body are affective and others are not. As a further example, connective tissue fasteners very similar to the bottom of the lungs and the pericardium to the diaphragm so that when the diaphragm contracts it pulls down on the lungs and the pericardium. Connective tissue But also connects the top of the stomach and liver to the bottom of the diaphragm so that when the diaphram moves upwards itcarries the lungs and liver with it.

By maintaining the health of our body's connective tissue and meridians, we maintain our body's ability to transmit change and its ability to allow change to happen.

In places where connective tissue sticks together where it shouldn't, stretching can help to losen it. In places where connective tissue has tightened, or become in-elastic, stretching may help to restore it.

Stretching the connective tissue while meridian/relaxing muscle tissue by activating and energizing it muslce tissue we can encourage the natural flow of energy within our body. Health and Vitality can be the result.

Changing Our Mind – Focusing on What We Want to Do

One of the interesting things about stretching the connective tissue or the meridiansconnective tissue within that is how our state of mind can affect our flexibility.

The ability for our muscles to relax so that our connective tissue can be stretched might directly relate to how happy, fearful, worried, or present we are relaxed while stretching. (This can be true in some people, not true in others. If we are aware of our degree of flexibility and out mental health on any given day we can draw our own conclusions as to whether this is true for ourselves or not.)

In this case the meridians do truly transmit the change that we are thinking about. If we are worried, our body tightens. If we are happy, our body losens and is more flexible.

Another way in which our mind can affect our body is in our ability to get more flexible. If we believe that it is toodifficult or too hard then we either won't stretch because of that belief or we limit ourselves to stretch when we are in the process of stretching.

One possible solution is to focus on what we are trying to do instead of what we can't do. Doing a forward bend, we can focus on our pelvis tilting forwards (as opposed to focusing on how difficult it is.) We could also focus on lengthening nights our spines, on breathing and or moving slowly and smoothly. We can also focus on feeling our body and responding to what we sense.

Trying to lengthen our which hamstrings we can focus on relaxing them so that we can stretch them, and if that doesn't work we can focus on positioning our body in such a way so that they can relax.

Changing our mind may very well be the first step towards being moreflexible as well as towards gaining sensitivity and control of our body.

Stretching the Meridians and Energizing Them

Meridians run along well defined lines which in places correspond to muscles or groups of muscles while in other places they correspond to "joint mobilities" directions in which the bones that make up a joint can move.

To stretch a particular meridian we can simply focus on stretching along the line that the meridian runs. So that we can do that it can be helpful to learn the pathways of the ordinary 12 meridians. Once we know the pathway of each meridian we can figure out how to stretch it or energize it or we can analyze a posture or action to see which meridians are stretched or energized.

If a meridian crosses the front of the hip (like thestomach meridian does) then we can stretch the meridian at that location by opening the front of the hip. We can do a lunge and reach one leg back so that the front of the hip of that leg is stretched.

If a meridian runs along the length of a muscle then we can lengthen that muscle.

As an example the stomach meridian runs down the front of the leg along the rectus fermoris which fasteners the front of the pelvis to the front of the knee. We can stretch this meridian and the corresponding muscle by bending the knee completely and then tilting our pelvis and upper body backwards. We stretch the rectus femoris thus by bending the knee and opening the front of the hip joint. For a complete stretch of the stomach meridian we also stretch the front of the ankle as well as the frontof the belly and ribcage.

We can try try to stretch the stomach meridian all at once or focus on each part one at a time.

Because of the interconnected nature of the meridians it is hard to just work on one meridian at a time when stretching or energizing the body. Generally, whenever we stretch one meridian other meridians are affected. If we are aware of the pathways of all of the meridians we can also realize which meridians are being stretched at the same time.

As an example, both the Stomach and Kidney Meridians run up the front of the torso. Thus we know that if we bend our spine backwards we not only stretch the stomach meridian but the kidney meridian also. As a result we can use single postures to stretch multiple meridians at the same time.

If we areaware of the interconnectedness of the meridian network as a whole, we can use this to guide stretches and even to design our postures. For example, the large internal meridian runs up the back of the arm, up the side of the neck and then across to the opposite side of the face. From there it connects to the stomach meridian which runs down the front of the body and leg. We can stretch the Stomach Meridian Internecine and Large at the same time by doing a long while pulling the front leg arm across the chest while tilting the head to the opposite side.

Knowing that the three inner leg meridians to connect via the front of the body to the three meridians that run down the front of the arms, we can accompany or follow stretching or energizing the inner thighs with positions thatstretch or energize the front of the arms.

The Flow of the Meridians

The meridians are connected as follows:

Lungs, Internecine, Stomach, Large Spleen, Heart, Small Bladder, Internecine, Kidneys, Pericardium, Triple Heater, Gall Bladder, Liver.

The Lung Meridian runs down the outside edge of the front of the arm to the thumb. The Large Internal startsat the index finger Meridian and runs up the back of the arm along the outside edge.

The Large Internal Meridian runs up the neck and across the space between the bottom of the nose and the top of the upper lip, crossing the body's center line to connect to the stomach meridian.

The lungs and large internal both run along the outside edge of the arm. They are both associated with the element of "metal"and the color white.

The Stomach Meridian runs down the front of the body. Running down the bull it crosses the nipple and runs down the outside edge of the rectus abdominus and down the front of the thighs and lower leg to the foot where it connects to the big toe and the second toe.

The Spleen Meridian runs along the front edge of the inner thigh. It starts at the top of the big toe. Running up the torso it follows a line to the outside of the stomach meridian.

The spleen and stomach are yin and yang aspects respectively of the earth element which is represented by yellow.

The Heart Meridian runs along the inside edge of the front of the arm ending at the pinky.

The Small Internal Meridian runs up the back of the arm along the inside edge. It startsfrom the back side of the pinky. It zig-zags across the spine of the shoulder blade, runs up the side of the neck to the outer corner of the eye and then to a point just in front of the ear.

The heart and small are yin and yang internal aspects of the fire element which is represented by the color red.

The Bladder Meridian runs down the back of the body and back of the leg. It starts at the inside corner of the eye, runs over the top of the head and down the back of the body. To either side of the spine it has two lines on each side. These two lines zag outwards and down at the buttock and then recombine to form one line just behind each knee. The Bladder Meridian runs down the back of the calf to the outside of the heel and down the outside of the foot. It ends at the tip ofthe small toe where it then connects to the Kidney Meridian.

The Kidney Meridian runs up the back line of the inner thigh. It starts at the bottom of the foot from the back and the little toe to the inside edge of the foot where it follows the inside of the arch to then do a circle around the inside of the ankle. It then ascends the back edge of the inner thigh to the perinium and then runs up the front of the body close to the center line, connecting to the collar bone just inside the point where it connects to the sternum.

The kidney and bladder meridians are yin and yang aspects of the water element, which is represented by blue or black.

The Pericardium Meridian runs down the center line of the front of the arm to the tip of the middle finger.

The Triple HeaterMeridian runs up the center of the back of the arm from the ring finger. It ascends the neck and circles behind the ear.

These two meridians have no associated element.

The Gullbladder Meridian runs down the side of the body and side of the leg. It starts from in front of the ear, and coils back and forwards along the side of the head, each zag taking it higher up the skull. It then descends down the front of the shoulder and down the side of the body.

The Liver Meridian runs up the inner thigh between the kidney and spleen meridians. It completes the circuit by connecting meridian back to the lung meridian at the front of the shoulder.

The liver and gull bladder meridians are related to the wood element and the color green.

Meridian Summary:

The Dancer's Secret--A Short Horse Story

It was sunset. The wind rode on the sharp edges of the mountains, dragging the last bit of color away from the darkening hills. In a small cradle of two hills lay a beautiful girl. Her hair was long and soft, and when it touched the wind no other beauty could compare to it. She had a long face and brilliant brown eyes searching. Her feet were perfectly conformed, but were not like everybody else's who surrounded her. This girl's belly was not thin and it was not bulging, but was somewhere in between, and was the perfect shape. She stood up. Her long hair covering her body like a coat. The wind pushed against her forehead, cooling the nearly invisible sweat.

Others gathered around her, watching her intently. She began to move in a slow, but upbeat rhythm. It grew very quiet. The others continued to look at her, and started to wonder why she had begun to dance when the music hadn't started. The girl's curves moved back and forth and her hands danced their own dance around her stomach. Back and forth she moved until the earth seemed to move and the mountains rumble. The grass quivered back and forth at the eerie silence. She stopped. The ring of quiet shadowed everyone's ears. The beautiful girl opened her mouth. A long sweet tone emerged from her lips. The onlookers listened intently gazing to the wonderful sound. The girl dropped down to a very low pitch and then swerved back up like a bird that was getting too close to the ground. She sang and sang as if she were pouring her inside beauty out to the others. Her voice stopped, and once again silence coveredeverything.

The girl's body began to move again, but this time it was much slower and seemed more meaningful. Soon the others were bobbing their heads and moving to something unheard. It was the music of their souls. The girl sped up her dance, leaving all of the others to dance their own rhythm. Soon the girl was dancing so hard to the music inside of her that she suddenly stopped and began to run. Blood thumped in her temples and her gorgeous hair flowed back away from her face. Her long sleek body seemed to move with the wind, and her feet with the earth. The girl ran and ran, and when she got to the top of her favorite hill she stopped. Her breathing came harshly, making her nostrils flare for air. She smiled and took a minute to grasp the beauty around her. The smell of wildflowers hung in her nostrils, and the earth we cuddled her feet. In the near distance she spotted a small forest and hundreds of night creatures lurking about. Quickly she turned around to look at the others. Their music was still playing within their bodies. The girl was satisfied. Once again she had taught to listen not only to your mind but also to the music, the real music that plays inside of you.

The girl began to laugh. This was no ordinary laugh though--it was a laugh that was a slightly haunting and scary. Her eyes sparkled and she laughed. Once again she had gotten away with her secret. Once again she had done something all of the others said she couldn't do. The girl reared up in triumph, showing off her long mane and hoofs glimmering. A long whinny rose from her throatand she galloped home.

The dancer's secret was revealed ...

Replacement Of Lost Earrings

The news I have gotten is that earrings purchased or received within a few years may likely be replaced if the manufacturer is identified; however, if the earrings are several years old, that style may no longer be available for direct replacement. A first step which you have likely considered is to go to the business selling the earrings in the first place. That business would be most able to quickly identify the vendor and perhaps replace the missing one. Keep in mind, the earrings may only be available in a pair, not a single unit.

To identify the maker can often be difficult and I stopped trying to do that for questioners here at allexperts. Many makers are out there and much jewelry is imported with various makers ' marks. Identification becomes almost the job for aDetectives armed with books and books of makers marks! To read the markings which are generally small on earrings, you will need to get a good 10 x lens or go to a jewelry store with a microscope and ask if they can read the mark or let you have a look. Still, the mark if recognized by the jeweler will help but if unknown you are back to a difficult task.

DUPLICATING THE EARring

If the earrings are precious metal, meaning gold and generally are not costume jewelry, there is a reasonable possibility of having one made. Costume jewelry simply cannot be duplicated by jewelers both because of the metals and finishes used and because cost to duplicate are high. If the earrings are precious metal, you do have a chance.

WHERE TO GO

Since the jewelers you have visited didnot seem interested in making or matching your earring, you should try a local business which sells quality jewelry but also has a bench jeweler working in-house. The business should also do custom work. The bench jeweler is the one who does repairs and makes custom jewelry.

Then, ask the clerks about replacing the missing earring and if they can order a "mounting" or similar earring from their vendors. If so, you are in luck! If not, the jeweler can look at the earring and see if that is an item they can make for you. Keep in mind; cost will likely be more than the original price since this may turn out to be one-of-a-kind work.

Often, a similar design may be purchased and the jeweler can modify to make the purchased earring match the original. This last approach is lesscostly than having the earring made from scratch. As last resort, try a jewelry business specializing only in custom work to have the item made. I would try that last business since many full service jewelers who do custom work have large vendor bases to check for an earring which may be purchased, avoiding the need of custom work. The jeweler who does strictly custom work will likely not have that vendor base to call upon.

When the earring is a post, with the omega back going over that when worn, adjustment is not very difficult. Generally this means taking a nice jeweler's smooth nosed pliers and bending the base of the omegas downward. This makes more room between the ear and the back, with the post still there to hold the earring on the ear.

Now, with no post and only theomega back, each must be adjusted the same way but only a tiny bit at a time. The earring must be firm enough to hold the earlobe but not so tight as to be uncomfortable.

A NOTE OF WARNING

Omega backs are great. The problems come when these are on hollow and lightweight earrings. Another problem arises if the backs are not very well soldered (brazed) to the earring body. Bending will sometimes cause the base part of the omega to break off; with hollow and thin earrings, earring can actually tear out a piece of gold, leaving a very difficult repair job.

I would try this only if familiar with doing it! There is a tactile "education" or "touch" needed to feel how the metal is working when bent.

MY ADVICE

Let a jeweler do it! They can bend a little; let youtry the earrings for fit, bend again if needed till the comfortable fit is achieved.

If you break the earrings ... well, then you will pay to have repairs made. If the jeweler does it, they should let you know up front who is responsible if there is breakage. A competent jeweler should be able to tell you up front if there is an obvious risk in loosening the earring backs.

11 Ways To Spot A Good Jobber! " "

"It's easy to knock a man down, it takes effort to help him up."

An integral link in the automotive supply chain, the jobbers provide an invaluable service to many. In an attempt to help you recognize the good ones, we've compiled a list of 11 common traits.

1. "Good Jobber" embraces change. Change within their field, change within their store and changes to the way things are done. "Good Jobber" knows that to survive they must "adapt or perish!" "Good Jobber" not only embraces change, they are flexible and public. Compromise and adaptation is their middle name.

2. Open to positive and supportive criticism, "Good Jobber" welcomes such feedback. They know that feedback is the true food of champions. Of course the "Good Jobber" is also a Great Team Player. There truly is no "I" the Jobber's team. It's ' all for one and one for all! '

3. Never satisfied with the ' status quo ' the "Good Jobber" is always seeking new ways to grow and develop. The "Good" Jobber "knows that even if you're on the right track, an oncoming train will flatten you if you just sit there.

4. Imagination is fuel that drives the "Good Jobber". When presented with new and exciting challenges they will rise to the challenge and get creative. When facing a wall the creative Jobber makes a doorway.

5. The bed-fellow to imagination is risk. "Good Jobber" knows that risk is a part of life and subsequently a part of business, therefore they embrace it. When new ideas, products, or systems are presented, they welcome the competitive challenge.

6. Chaos isnot welcome in the world of the "Good" Jobber ". Focused and measured in their actions, they move from task to task in a carefully orchestrated manner. No effort is wasted and no task overlooked.

A good listener, the "Good" Jobber "is always ready to lend a sympathetic ear because the" Good Jobber "knows you learn more from listening that you ever do from talking!

8. Nobody's perfect, yet the "Good Jobber" knows that work is not the place for personal problems and does not burden their associates with such matters. Inner control and a professional demeanour are the outward appearance of the "Good" Jobber ". You will never see fits of rage orscreaming at staff. The "Good" Jobber "knows that when you lose control-you lose.

9. Responsibility for ones actions is also a "Good" Jobber "trait. There's no ' buck-passing ' with them in command. If the "Good Jobber" undertakes a task they assume full responsibility for whatever they can. They know that this is an excellent opportunity to shine.

10. The "Good Jobber" has never really left "school"-life is a permanent teaching ground for them. They know that information and education provide tools that afford opportunity. They know that with knowledge comes power. "

11. And finally, the "Good" Jobber "is giving. Giving of their time, their attention and their resources. They've structured their affairs such that they can operate a profitable yet generousoperation.

The opener to this article said that it really doesn't take much to knock a person down. Destruction has always been easier and quicker than building things up. And in today's economy we need to support each other a little more frequently, because the old maxim is still true: "United we stand, divided we fall."

And for those of you who are reading this and thinking "I'm not a jobber ... it doesn't apply to me." Look again, and look more closely. Simply replace the words "Good Jobber" with your professional designation and magically these points apply to you too-they're universal.

How to Let a Guy Know It's Okay for Him to Kiss You-7 Delightful Ways to Give Him a Green Signal

Very often you can find yourself in a position that is very frustrating when your boyfriend does not do anything to further the relationship. If your guy is shy or hesitant about kissing you or becoming more intimate with you, all you got to do is gently nudge him in the right direction. Here are some delightful ways to let him know you want him to kiss you.

Lean towards him and look expectant!
Don't be too distant or aloof from the guy. When you are out on a date with him, make sure that you look tempting enough to kiss in the first place. Then all you have to do is sit closer and lean forward towards him so that he gets the message. Be sure to put him at ease and don't embarrass him or else he will back off!

Get on to the dance floor with him and get closer
One way of getting closer to him is to ask him to dance with you. Once you are on the dance floor with his arms around you, it is easy to get him to feel more romantic and turned on by you. Don't keep him at arm's length and respond to him in such a way that he will know that you are okay with kissing him.

Tell him you wish to see the stars and get him alone
If you find that your guy is always taking you to places where there are scores of other people around, it is no wonder he will find it difficult to get more intimate with you. Let him know that you wish to go someplace private. This itself will let him know that you are okay with getting physical with him.

Get physical and put your arms around him
Once you are alone with him, don't hesitate to touch him.Maybe he is just waiting for a signal from you that tells him that you won't reject him if he tries to kiss you. "Put your arms around his waist and smile at him in such a way that he instinctively knows that it is okay for him to kiss you.

Give him a peck on the cheek
Sometimes a guy can be really obtuse and wait for simply ages till he can gather up courage and make a move to kiss you. A kiss is very personal and intimate and unless you connect in a way that there could be no doubt of each other's feelings, it could get difficult for him to kiss you. Encourage him by giving him a kiss on his cheek or holding him close!

Sit on his lap and whisper in his ear
If you can motivate and encourage your guy to kiss you by sitting on his lap, brushing intimately againsthim or even whisper lovingly in his ear, he will know that it is okay to kiss you. Wear a sexy perfume and look devastatingly beautiful-he will be unable to resist the temptation in your eyes.

Look into his eyes and run your hands through his hair
You will be surprised to know how many guys wait for a signal from their girl before taking the initiative and kissing her! Don't wait for him to make a move-it might take forever! Look invitingly deep into his eyes and run your hands through his hair. A gesture like this will make it very easy for him to take you into his arms and kiss you.

A Review of the Marpac Sleepmate 980A Electro Mechanical Sound Conditioner

The Sleepmate 980A Marpac Sound Conditioner Electro Mechanical costs more than I could afford when I really needed some sleep.

I worked third shift at a factory at the time, so I was getting off work about the same time most people were starting their day. Naturally, my bedtime was when the rest of the world was in full swing. To make matters worse, like most of my fellow factory workers, lived in a rather small apartment.

Slamming doors, crying babies, and blaring TV's guaranteed that I would get no more than 4 hours sleep a day. I guess some people can sleep through that stuff, but not me. It got to the point that I started taking pills and drinking gallons of caffeine just to stay awake at work. Something had to give.

I tried headphones, ear plugs, andfans. The ear plugs worked initially, but I'd wake up with the insides of my ears feeling raw and painful. The headphones were just too bulky to sleep with. Fans were OK in the summer, but most of the time I'd wake up with a sore, dry throat.

One of my coworkers suggested the Marpac Sleepmate 980A try the Electro Mechanical Sound Conditioner. Others who had tried it agreed. The cost was what really turned me off. It's a lot of money for something that just makes a sound, especially for a factory worker who could barely pay his bills anyway.

Still, something had to change. Sleep became an obsession for me, as I was nodding off at work, sometimes even dreaming while awake. I decided to buy a cheaper white noise maker instead.

At first, it was OK, but it didn't take me longto notice that all it was doing was playing the same sound loops over and over. After a few days, I found this maddening, and put it away.

The first thing I noticed about the Marpac Sleepmate 980A Electro Mechanical Sound Conditioner was its size. I expected something much bigger, and I couldn't imagine this tiny piece of plastic would generate enough sound to drown out my neighbor's souped-up Camaro when he came home for lunch. It's about 6 inches wide by 3 inches thick. It weighs about 1.5 pounds.

I was curious and wanted to test it, so I turned up the volume of the TV in the living room, and retreated to the bedroom with my new toy, and possible savior. I was very surprised at the level of sound coming from this thing that looks like a small smoke detector. It created aconstant rushing, smooth feel. What's more, I couldn't hear the TV at all!

The next day, when it counted Marpac Sleepmate 980A, the Electro Mechanical Sound Conditioner performed beautifully. I heard no yelling neighbors barking dogs, or slamming doors, for restful 8 hours. I stopped taking the pills and drinking caffeine.

This was years ago, but I still keep two of these machines with me at all times. Why two? Well, I'm very auditory. Sounds, any sounds, can distract me completely. Many times, I've got to write articles and reports which require my complete attention.

My wife, on the other hand, likes to listen to music and watch TV. Marpac Sleepmate 980A With the Electro Mechanical Sound Conditioner, I can retreat to my office and work in peace and quiet.

Oh, andthe other one? It's still in my bedroom. Even though I now sleep at night, I've grown accustomed to its relaxing sounds.

My only complaint is that the on/off switch could be bigger. If you need to make an adjustment in a dark room, fumbling to find it can be a frustrating experience. Even after owning one all these years, I still have trouble with it.

Still, if you need to sleep, and sound is your number one obstacle Marpac Sleepmate 980A, the Electro Mechanical Sound Conditioner might be the answer to your problems.

Your Child's Hero

Johnny Johnson's thirteen-year-old daughter stayed up later than usual to finish her homework recently. She was working on a writing assignment that was two in the morning. Her middle-school teacher had assigned it a week earlier, but like a lot of teens, the youngster saved her writing efforts until the last minute.

Mr. Johnson's daughter, Sabrina, had talked about the assignment earlier in the week. Her job was to pick one of her heroes and tell why this particular person was a hero to her. Gentle reminders from her father about completing the assignment during the week fell on deaf ears. "I've got it under control," Sabrina told him. "I have it already written in my head. This will be an easy one. I just have to take what I already know and put it on paper. "

Ifyour child received an assignment like this, who would they write about? A rock star, athlete, politician, or a television personality? Maybe they would write about a teacher, a clergyman, or a fireman. One would hope that the recipient of this attention would be someone her parents respected and thought worthy of their child's self-esteem and adulation.

Later, after his daughter had gone to bed, Mr. Johnson noticed her writing assignment lying on the study table. It only took one glance for a rush of strong emotion to begin running through his body. He was stunned by what he saw. On the top of the first page was the title of her essay. It stated: "My Father, My Hero."

Johnny Johnson began to cry. What a compliment! What an unexpected affirmation of all he had attempted to be as afather!

Who would your child write about if given this assignment? Do you wish he or she would write about you? It could happen. Especially if your actions today are heroic, if you behave like a hero in front of your children. Listed below are several ways to be a hero to your children. Add them to your repertoire of heroic actions. Do it as a Father's Day gift to yourself. You deserve it and so do your children.

1.) Be the good Samaritan. Stop to help a stranded motorist. Rake the leaves for an elderly couple. Bake cookies for the nursing home residents. Allow your children to help and to witness a caring father in action.

2.) Be approachable. Tell your teens that the front porch light is a signal. When the light is on, it means you are available to talk, even if youare asleep. Tell the little ones that your easy chair is your listening chair. If they ever have a concern, question, or frustration, they can ask to sit in the listening chair with their father. Follow through.

3.) Attend sporting events, concerts, and school activities. Be visible in the stands when your child participates. If she can see you, she knows you can see her. Demonstrate good sportsmanship and appropriate manners.

4.) Search for solutions. Focus on problem solving with your children. Minimize blame and punishment. Focus on finding solutions instead. Give your children a model of a father who cares about finding ways to fix things rather than making people pay for their errors.

5.) Hold your children accountable. Holding your children accountable for theiractions and choices is one of the most loving things you can do as a father. If you don't hold your child accountable, someone else might have to.

6.) Be consistent. It's not the severity of a consequence that has the impact. It's the certainty. The kiss of death for any discipline system is inconsistency. Hold your children accountable for their actions with an open heart and do it with consistency.

7.) Take their suggestions seriously. Your children have ideas about what to do on your next vacation. They have certain places they like to eat. They have ideas on how to spend money entertainment. It is not necessary to use all their suggestions. It is necessary to hear them all, think about them, and give them serious consideration.

8.) Teach. Teach your child to hit abaseball, ride a bike, and use a fork appropriately. Resist the effort to outsource important learning to other groups and individuals. Teach your child to care for pets, treat all living things with respect and appreciate nature. Model exactly how loving and compassionate a strong man can be.

9.) Invest in experiences rather than things. Your child does not need a brand new $ 400 sandbox with a swing set attached that comes preassembled. He needs the experience of going out in the backyard with his father and building a sandbox together. One more new toy is not necessary. What is needed is the experience of taking a trip to the lake, to the library, or to a rodeo.

10.) Make charity visible. Let your children see your trips to the Red Cross to give blood. Let them participatein deciding how to spend the money in the family charity jar. Let them help pick out the coat that goes to the Coats for Kids program. Allow them to put the money in the church plate as it is passed down the pew.

Want to be a hero in your child's life? Add some of these ideas to your toolbox of parenting strategies. Someday you just might discover your child's writing assignment entitled, "My Father, My Hero."

Enhance Your Self Image-Re-Think on That Clothing, Shoes and Accessories

Would you like to make your own personal transformation? Sometimes, we do need to change for the better to improve our own self-image and in order for us to feel good about ourselves. Certainly, some tips can really be helpful when it comes to choosing the clothes, shoes and accessories to help you with the transformation you so desire to achieve.

1. Clothing. How we choose our clothes is all up to us; however, let us look ourselves in the mirror and evaluate ourselves based on the choice of our clothes. Ask yourself the following questions:

Earrings

* Do I usually dress up for the right occasion? Oftentimes, we might not be aware that we are wearing clothes that don't fit the occasion. If you're attending a formal party, shouldn't you be wearing formal dress or suit instead of the casual jeans and shirt? If you don't want to catch any attention, especially in a negative way, it is best to show up wearing the right clothes for the occasion and be happy that you did.

* Do I feel happy and proud with the person I'm staring at the big mirror? If you don't see a happy and beautiful sight about yourself, then seek to improve and deleted what's causing you to feel bad about yourself. It starts by admitting to yourself that you really need to make that self-overhaul to your image so you can then start liking yourself. If you are pregnant, you may think that you are excused from making all efforts to make you and your personality likable. With the best maternity dresses and women's clothing, you can somehow help kiss your depression goodbye.

* Are myclothes worth the price I have paid for them? Try to check some of the best clothes online and see if they're anything better compared to what you have now. Check and review the price you are paying for your clothes. Maybe next time you can shop more wisely.

2. Shoes. Do you know that your choice of shoes can also affect your overall look? That's right - it is not only the dress that can help enhance that image. Oftentimes, a woman's personality can be seen from her choice of shoes. Fashion experts would usually advice to complement shoes with the clothes you are wearing; or vice versa. Another important consideration when buying shoes should be "comfort". You can't wear those stylish shoes if you are not comfortable with it, anyway.

3. Accessories. Sometimes, the choice of accessories (necklaces, bracelets, earrings, etc) can complete your overall look and personality. Use them sparingly.

Go ahead and make that wonderful change if that should make you feel good about yourself. After all, as a woman, you owe it to yourself to feel and look good-inside and out!
